Why VPP?

The Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) promote effective worksite-based safety and health. In the VPP, management, labor, and OSHA establish cooperative relationships at workplaces that have implemented a comprehensive safety and health management system. Approval into VPP is OSHA's official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health.

By participating in OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), employers improve their workplace safety and health management systems and implement activities and procedures that produce outstanding results and contribute to improved safety and health for workers.

The VPP has a 20+ year history, and the average VPP worksite has a Days Away Restricted or Transferred (DART) case rate that is 52% below the average for its industry. VPP participation can also lead to lower employee turnover and increased productivity and cost savings.

VPP and the VPPPA

VPPPA is committed to delivering the most productive and rewarding membership experience to each of our valued member sites. Through educational offerings, publications and face-to-face and online networking opportunities, the association strives to provide employees at member sites with the latest best practices and relevant information on occupational safety and health and the Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). VPPPA Benefits include:
